Creating a piece of art, someone seeing it, loving it, and buying it.....the details of the story are one of the most satisfying reasons I create art.
A customer came into my studio a few months ago. We were talking and drinking coffee and enjoying the art surrounding us. She saw a painting and was immediately drawn to it, saying it reminded her of her mother who has unfortunately passed away last year.
After two and half months, she called to ask if the painting had already sold and if not, could she come over and have another look. She wanted to check if the feeling that had gotten ahold of her the first time was still there.
And it was....even more so....
After taking the measurements and assessing the wall space at home, I received a call that the painting was sold! Happy me, happy customer.
I told her I had given the artwork the title "Not your average Supermarket Flowers". The song Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran was on my playlist as I was finishing with the final touches of the painting.
"No way," she said, "that is the song my daughter choose to listen to during the funeral."
Telling this story and the "coincidences" to her father, he offered to pay for the piece.
Full circle.
I love that this piece of art has so much meaning now to the whole family! And "Not your average Supermarket Flowers" is in its forever home where it was meant to be.
