My story

Haggith van Hees is an artist who uses her work as a powerful tool for self-expression, openness and justice. She combines these core values with her unique ability to translate deep emotions, passion, creativity and empathy into visual art. Her work reflects on systematic inequality in the world and personal taboos, including mental health, using abstract shapes and expressive colors to expose both her inner world and social themes.

In addition, she creates work that reflects the golden edges of life - as an upward movement from the darkness. The importance of hope, light and resilience becomes tangible. For Haggith, art is not only a visual expression but also a way of processing and healing. Without a classical art education, she has developed her own style and signature: intuitive, expressive paintings with dynamic compositions, layered colours and characteristic artmarks - the stripes, scribbles and ink splatters that make her work unmistakably her own. She works without preconceived compositions, so that her paintings reflect her emotions, purely and unfiltered. There is always movement, because it comes from the continuous movement within herself. Haggith van Hees' work is not only a visual statement but also a dialogue with the viewer about emotion, mental health and social justice.

Haggith’s artistic journey is one of self-discovery and liberation. Growing up in an environment that limited self-expression and autonomy, she has found a way to fully assert her own voice through her art. Her paintings are grand, not only in size but also in impact. She pushes back against the limitations of a stretched canvas by working on loose canvas, which gives her the ultimate freedom to express herself outside of the box.

Her work is a powerful yet vulnerable reflection of her inner world and her perspective on society. Whether she is expressing her personal struggles with mental health or her anger at injustice, she does so with an intensity and authenticity that resonates deeply with the viewer. Her paintings invite dialogue and connect people through shared emotions and experiences.
