I wrote the poem below during the BLM movement in 2020.
But with everything that is going on in the world at the moment, towards people with a skin color other than white, towards people with a different identity than the standard cis-hetero, I thought it fitting to post this one again.
I want so much every person to be important and loved and supported, just because they exist. We are all different and that is what makes life so fascinating. Just like a vase of flowers with many different types and colors.
So I say: cheers to diversity, cheers to inclusion, cheers to equality!!!

The painting is called "Rainbow Bouquet" and is inspired by the Pride flag. Painted in wonderful, bright neon colors. After stretching, the canvas is 175 x 175 cm.
Mixed media on canvas.
a parallel universe
is what they say exits
I wonder what life would be like
would the white
be oppressed by those of color?
or are there no different colors?
I hope they would
have different shades
with everyone
loving the mixing and matching
As they should in this universe.
Behold the different tones of skin
and rejoice
in the beauty of variety
Colors go so well together
in paintings
in nature
in life
Think of flowers
some like roses
others gerbera’s
still others prefer lilies or peonies
some love dandelions and thistles
All these beautiful on their own
but wow,
what a stunning bouquet
they make
put together in a vase.
