....... well, it's quite a big detail actually! I had everything sorted and the van booked to take my art to Artist Meeting in Knokke, Belgium.
My husband dropped me off at the rental, I got all the papers signed and the deposit down. Drove to my studio. Parked the van outside, so that I wouldn't block the way inside (yes my studio is one of 160 units in an old cardboard factory, so room enough to drive inside for moving etc). Wrapped the paintings, put everything else I needed in a crate and went to get the van.
And as soon as I opened the back-end I had a feeling. Sure enough, brought down the biggest piece of art that was coming along and it didn't fit!!!! How could I have forgotten the size van that I had rented before? How did I think that large artworks would fit in a tiny van? (It's not that tiny, my art is just too big, I guess)
Stress!!!
I called the rental company if they had any large vans still available for the whole weekend. Of course not!
This is one time I am happy that I still have enough finished pieces in my studio so that I could curate a different set up.
I am sorry to the people that were hoping to see the newest and larger pieces.
Next time, I promise.
I promise to measure everything beforehand.
I actually just might have to add size van to the back of the canvas so that I won't have to keep measuring. :)
Anyways, the van is full of beautiful pieces of art on the way to Artist Meeting in the Grand Casino Knokke at the Belgian coast.
The fair is from Friday, August 23 till Sunday, August 25.
